I could have underlined everything in these verses because these speak to me a lot!
Part of this life is suffering. And even if it sounds negative, there is beauty in it that we do not yet see. I am very much enlightened by this verse because though we suffer, we know that we will be delivered from this fallen world - all healed and well for we are children of God.
But nevertheless, whether He heals us or not or He delayed His healing, it is all up to Him because I know He is God. It is still God who calls the shots. It is God who is in control and we trust God because we know His purposes are good, as we go through these challenging times.
We all wonder what are the purposes of such suffering? It could be a lot of things. It could be so that we will know God and be closer to Him and seek Him more. It could be to protect us. It could be to refocus our lives and let God be the center of our lives instead of the trivial and worldly things in life. To be honest, the great purposes we will know but we do not yet know.
We should ask for God’s help and I know that His grace is sufficient for us. We should not waste our sufferings away by focusing or thinking on how much painful or how much uncomfortable or how devastating or how punishing they are to us. But to be honest, I never think sufferings are punishment especially if you know the great purpose behind them.
I know it is difficult and I am having the same difficulty as well. Sometimes, in confusion, I seemingly do not know what to say or do. But, I trust in God who is bigger than these sufferings. I want to glorify Him and He be the center of my sufferings so that His works and purposes will manifest.
